Make Your Own Bird House

There are many ways that you can build a birdhouse at home. In-fact, I am sure that you will be surprised at how easy some of them are to make, you may also be surprised to learn that you can even make a birdhouse out of recycled materials.

On this page you can find lots of information, advice, links, and birdhouse building tips. I will be making some of the birdboxes featured too, and documenting them as I go. This is a fun project for me for spring and I am looking forwards to getting started on making one of my own.

Build A Birdhouse Out Of Recycled Materials - Ideas For Making A Unique Birdhouse

There are plenty of ways that you can build a birdhouse out of recycled materials, this could be wood (sticks, reclaimed wood, or even driftwood!) They can also be made out of general household items that would otherwise end up in the trash.

You need to think mainly about using items that are non toxic to animals, as a rule use plastics that are suitable for human consumption only, and items that are not painted or treated with anything toxic, especially on the inside of the birdbox.

Make sure that your birdbox is well constructed, it's very important that there are no gaps where rain can come in, if gaps are present in the roof it can be devastating for young chicks. They can become trapped inside the birdbox as it slowly fills with water. Young chicks need to be kept warm and dry or the will not survive.
